Artist Statement

As someone who is a writer and an artist, many of art pieces I create are inspired by words, and my writing is filled with imagery. In both, my aim is to hit an emotional core, because a piece can be aesthetically pleasing, but it only matters when it makes a person feel. Art in essence is human connection. It creates an invisible rainbow bridge between the mind and experience of the creator and the audience, allowing them each to feel they are less alone. They are known and seen, even if they never meet. That transcendence of circumstance is the purpose of my work, whether it is light or shadowed, to use the imaginary to make something real.
